The newest link on the left is a test camera I have just installed looking
at the 'downstream' side of Glenridding Bridge. The camera should upload
a new image every hour (approx 2 mins past in fact) You will have to REFRESH
your browser occasionally to get the latest image. Images are also being
stored locally to provide a useful record of the river levels. Much more
frequent images are being stored locally and eventually will be able to
be accessed over the proposed 'local' infrastructure. For flood wardens,
real time video streams from all cameras will be available on the local
This physical camera has been kindly donated on a temporary
basis by Selina at the Glenridding Hotel THANK YOU SELINA!
Hopefully this is the first of a small network of beck cameras to be
installed in the dale for flood monitoring. I have been working on this
project with Martin Butcher with a view to providing information, and
emergency internet access in our dale- when real disater strikes.
Locally we have some very good IT skills and the folk will BE HERE to
help in an emergency! (See last winter!)
At the moment you will lose all acces to everything if we lose power
and telephone lines. We hope (as soon as the funding is released - Rob???)
to complete a local network which is resilient and can be accessed by
folk when no connection to the outside world exists.
In the meantime keep an eye here for more information. Also I have yet
to install the night vision lamps so accept it's dark when it's dark!!!
